Langford Lake - Mt.Wells

Here's a local hike I did recently. With my new GPS I now have accurate data on my hikes and don't have to guessitmate any more. I usually tell people this hike is 10K, well it's now 12.3K and if I'm reading the GPS right 690m cumulative elevation. Great views on this hike of the western communities, downtown Victoria and the surrounding Sooke hills.

A Wild Year - Banff National Park

This is a very entertaing video from a trail cam in Banff National Park. So much activity and diversity on this multi-use trail makes me wonder what is going on on the trails we frequent.

Glacier\Yellowstone\Grand Teton National Parks

 

As all of you know the club did a trip to to Glacier\Yellowstone\Grand Teton coordinated by Vic, the guy with the knowledge of many, many areas to hike in spectacular settings, and he did not disappoint. With upwards of 29 hikers at times we spent a week in each location, mainly camping and enjoying the fabulous trails and scenery these US National Parks have to offer. My favorite was Grand Teton, you probably have your favorite too. A big thanks to Vic for doing the hours of research and pulling this together for another memorable trip.

Bald Mountain

A nice hike up Bald Mtn. lead by Jean of the Cowichan Lake Retreads, an energetic group who meet for regular weekly hikes in Cowichan Lake, BC. Club Tread did this hike on a regular basis, but then Bald Mtn. was logged, now a newer trail has been formed, and the vegation is starting to come back, so we are back too.

E&N Rail Trail - Humpback Connector

I wondered what happened to this project.Well here it is, a trail that parallels the E&N line all the way to Goldstream. The first phase is already constructed and more to come, see the CRD document in the link below.

Wild Pacific Trail, Ucluelet

Some friends and I went out to Ucluelet in November to hike and enjoy the vistas around Ucluelet and Long Beach, we were'nt disappointed. A very windy day was enjoyed on the Wild Pacific Trail, with some good surf watching and the relaxing atmosphere at Black Rock resort was not too hard to take as well. Thanks to all, let's do it again soon.
